My work isn’t about the tables I make. It is about the people that are sitting around them.
I started making furniture to help sustain our communities using thoughtful design to care for the world and the people that live on it.
Gathering places feed the soul of our communities; it is around our kitchens or with our feet propped up on coffee tables that we have some of our most important conversations. We do not need more stuff in our lives that does not bring us together in community.
I work with recycled and environmentally conscious processes and materials whenever possible. In fact, many of my ideas were born from visits to wrecking yards and recycling centers.
The musician Peter Mayer wrote a song called ‘Blue Boat Home’ that reflects many of the ideas I hope to represent in my furniture. More information and the lyrics can be found at:www.petermayer.net
